History of F & P Wholesale

Lea Heating Builders Merchants

The origins of F & P Wholesale date back to the 1960’s, originally called Lea Heating Builders Merchants. The company bought a number of individual merchants over a 30 year period including R Ronaldsons & Co in 1971 before being sold to Tricom in 1999 for £4.5 million, becoming Tricom Supplies.

They had various owners under this name before purchasing a company in Lewisham called
Fry & Pollard, which is where the name F & P Wholesale came from. The company traded as both Tricom Supplies and Fry & Pollard until 2003 when The BSS Group plc acquired the established supply business and the company became known as
F & P Wholesale. F & P was then already one of the UK’s largest secondary distributors with 2,300 customers, supplying small, independent ‘lightside’ merchants. F & P Wholesale remained a standalone operating business within the domestic division of the enlarged group as its leading wholesale distributor of heating, plumbing and bathroom products.

In 2010 F & P Wholesale as part of the BSS Group was acquired by Travis Perkins plc.

In an exciting move for the independent merchant industry, F & P Wholesale joined forces with the Connections business in July 2011 - marketing their full range of fittings to the merchant market.
